What Makes Beef Halal?

Halal beef is a type of beef that adheres to Islamic laws which govern how it is reared and slaughtered. To be classed as halal, the cow is required to be slaughtered via a cut to the jugular vein, carotid artery and windpipe. It also states that halal meat cannot contain alcohol and the cows must be fed a vegetarian diet and must not be treated with growth hormones or antibiotics. Does Halal Beef Taste Different?

Halal beef offers a similar taste as traditionally slaughtered beef. Halal meat may be considered healthier and more flavourful to some, due to the completely natural diet and how the animal is treated during its lifetime. Our range of halal beef and conventional beef cuts are both sourced from a range of trusted farming partners, which provide exceptional flavours and textures within the meat.

How Should You Cook Halal Steak?

You should cook your halal beef steaks the same as you would a normal steak. First, season your steak to your liking, and place your steaks in a hot pan with the fat facing down to render the fat. Once browned, lay your halal steak flat and then flip after your steak turns a golden colour. Once cooked to your desired preference, leave to rest for 5 mins before seasoning and serving.

Does Halal Steak Need to be Marinated?

Our halal steaks offer exceptional flavour and texture on their own, so they don’t need to be marinated. Our chefs recommend skipping the sticky sauces, and opting for a simple basting with butter, garlic, and thyme during the cooking process.
