This extraordinary brisket is taking the BBQ and Smoker scene by storm here in the UK. The marbling is superior to some Wagyu we have seen in the past. What Is Beef Brisket?

As mentioned above, Brisket is a cut of beef taken from the lower back or chest, containing the breast muscles, including the deep pectorals and the superficial muscles. It is often quite a large cut with a layer of fat on one side which gives the meat its succulent, juicy flavour.

How Long Does it Take to Cook Beef Brisket?

If you’re cooking your Brisket in the oven, it will typically take around 3 to 4 hours on medium to low heat. A slow cooker takes around 10 to 12 hours of cooking on low heat or 5 to 6 hours when using a high heat setting. You may choose to cook your Brisket on the stovetop in a large skillet pan with a lid covering the joint, which will take around 3 hours, or until tender.

What Temperature is Brisket Done?

Beef Brisket should be cooked until an internal temperature of 70º C, which should be measured using a meat thermometer for the most accuracy. If the beef is cooked to a higher internal temperature than this, you may risk drying it out. A good indication of beef Brisket being cooked to perfection is if it easily pulls apart with a fork.

How Do You Make Beef Brisket Tender?

The best way to ensure your Brisket is tender and juicy is to prepare it in a slow cooker. This is an incredibly easy way to prepare beef Brisket and is perfect for beginners and long-time chefs. Brisket can be a tough cut of meat, but preparing it in the slow cooker helps the connective tissue to break down, and form beautifully tender meat.

What Should You Serve With Beef Brisket?

If you are grilling your beef Brisket for your family and friends at a summer BBQ, we’d recommend serving the meat with buttery corn on the cob, and grilled vegetable skewers with baby tomatoes, and chunks of red onion, pepper, and courgette. A tangy coleslaw can work well when catering for a crowd, alongside a fresh summer salad.

Use the leftover brisket by making delicious pulled pork, combined with Sauce Shop BBQ Sauce for even more flavour. Add this to a sandwich or salad for an easy midweek lunch or dinner.
