Tender marinated steak, sweet oven-caramelised onions, and creamy Boursin cheese stirred through orzo for the ultimate comfort dish.

Method

1. Marinate the Steak
Toss cubed steak with:

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • Paprika, garlic, soy sauce, salt & pepper
    Set aside to marinate.

2. Caramelise the Onions
In an ovenproof dish, combine:

  • Sliced onions
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper
Dot butter over the top. Cover tightly and bake at 180°C for 1 hour 15 mins, stirring once halfway.

3. Add Cheese & Beef
Place the Boursin cheese wheel in the center of the onions, then layer the marinated beef on top.
Cover again and return to the oven for 1 hour.

4. Cook the Orzo
Meanwhile, cook orzo according to package instructions. Reserve a cup of the cooking water.

5. Combine & Serve
Remove the dish from the oven, stir everything gently to combine.
Add the cooked orzo and a splash of reserved water to create a creamy sauce. Mix well.
